Web Design Case Study: Old City Studio
Creating a stylish and slick website for a new recording studio.
The starting point for this website was a collection of assets including professional photographs of the studio space and a logo. My brief was to expand on these assets and create a website that perpetuated the existing branding to establish an on-brand online presence that successfully explains what the business is, what it does, where it is, and how you can book a session.
Aside from looking beautiful, another of my core web design principles is user experience. This website was carefully designed to provide a self-explanatory user journey, helping them find the service they need quickly and efficiently.
Contact is made easy and stylish on every page with this simple and effective contact form footer. Form entries are immediately sent direct to the business’s email.
Websites like this run the risk of having too many pages and a confusing user experience. To avoid this, I created 3 core pages – the studio, services & about. Users could then select their chosen destination from the drop-down and be taken directly to the section of the page most relevant to their needs.
Another of my core principles of web design is seamless mobile experience.
This website works just as well on mobile as on desktop. And looks just as beautiful.
I also designed this website to grow alongside the business, with future capabilities for online booking and taking payment.
While I recommend that any design changes are made by me (in order to maintain the smooth look and feel of the site), the business owners can easily update the text and images on the website themselves. Website launch was accompanied by a tutorial demonstrating how to make these changes and operate the website.
If the client ever encounters any issues, they can be rest assured that I’m always at the other end of the phone or an email to help with snags & advice free of cost.
